Fisher, Jones {I0243} (b. 3 MAY 1895, d. 25 MAR 1989)
Note: PROMINENT COUPLE MARRIED HERE

MISS ELLENWOOD BRIDE OF JONES FISHER SATURDAY
Wedding Dinner at Perrydell Follows Church Ceremony

Dignity and beauty characterized the wedding last evening at 6 o'clock at the First Methodist Church of Miss Bessie Lillian Ellenwood and Jones J. Fisher. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harry King, pastor, in the presence of a large gathering of friends and relatives of the couple.
The stately interior of the church illuminated by countless white tapers in cathedral candelabra, was a bower of palms and standing baskets of white blossoms. On the altar against a background of greenery, was an exuisite arrangement of white gladioli, white dahlias, Easter lilies, tube roses, white Feverfew and white roses.
While the guests were assembling, Mrs. John Kelley, organist, played a program of pre-nuptial music. She used "The Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" (Wagner) to herald the approach of the wedding party, and Mendelssohns "Wedding March" for the recessional. Mrs. C.L. Bennett, soprano, sang "I Love You Truly" (Carris Jacobs Bond) and "Because" (d'Hardelot).

In Bridal Party

The bride, who was given in marriage by O.E. Cummings, had as her attendants, Mrs. Helen C. Wentling, matron of honor, and Mrs. Ella Mae Placket and Mrs. Allie F. Skiles, bridesmaids, Norman G. Hamilton served as best man, and ushers were James G. Robertson and A.C. Oxford.
The flower girls were little Miss Betty Jo Faircloth, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joe Faircloth, and little Miss Jean Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harris, Leroy Hawkins, was the ringbearer.
For her wedding gown, the bride selected a white lace model over white satin. The fitted bodice with its weetheart neckline was softly shirred at the shoulders, andand the long sleeves came to a point over the wrist. The full skirt extended into a brief train in the back. Her floor length veil of illusion fell in graceful folds from a coronet of lace which was caught to her head with a spray of Stephanotis. She carried a shower bouquet of white bride'e roses and white carnations.
For her "something borrowed" the bride wore a triple strand of pearls belonging to Mrs. Mary Tremble, mother of the bridegroom and for her "something old", she carried a hand-made lace and drawnwork handkerchief which Mrs. Wentling carried in her wedding 33 years ago. Her "something blue"
was a touch of tiny blue blossoms in her bridal bouquet.
The gowns of the attendants were fashioned alike of lace over satin. They had fitted bodices, sweetheart necklines, long sleeves, fitted at the wrist, and full floor-length skirts.
Mrs. Wentling's was silver lace over orchid, and she carried an arm bouquet of yellow roses, wearing the same blossoms in her hair. Mrs. Plackett chose turquoise blue lace over satin in the same hue, and she carried an arm bouquet of Talisman roses. Mrs. Stiles wore dusty pink lace over matching satin, and her arm bouquet was of Briarcliff roses. Both Mrs. Blackett and Mrs. Skiles wore roses in their hair to match their bouquets.
The flower girls were dressed alike in long dotted swiss frocks with shirred ruffles around the neck and armholes. Little Miss Harris was in pink with a long blue satin sash, and she wore pink rosebuds in her hair. Little Miss Faircloth wore blue with a long pink satin sash and pink rosebuds in her hair. The ringbearer was dressed in a white suit, and carried the ring in a calla lily.
All of the men in the wedding party wore white, and had bouteonieres of white carnations.
Wedding Dinner Follows

Immediately following the ceremony, a wedding dinner for 60 guests was given at Perrydell, the bridal party had a police escort from the church to Perrydell.
Assisting the bridal party in receiving the guests were Mrs. Ralph Harris, Mrs. Joe Faircloth, and Miss Rhoda Fay. Mrs. W.J. Gardiner was in charge of the guest book.
Music was provided during the dinner by Mrs. John Kelly, Pianist, and Tippen Davidson, violinist. During the affair, Mr. and Mrs. Fisher were toasted by Mayor Ucal W. Cunningham.
The bridal motif was emphasized in the table decorations with the use of white blossoms and white tapers in antique candelabra. The 10-tiered white wedding cake made to serve 90 persons stood on a separate table.
Mr. and Mrs. Fisher will remain here for a few days before leaving on a honeymoon trip to New York, Chicago, Colorado and California. They will return here October 1.
