Scott, John {I0318} (b. 21 FEB 1780, d. 1 FEB 1860)
Note: (From the book: The littles of Galloway and the County of Kent by George E. Little)

In 1817, Samuel Girvan, James McClellan, Anthony McNarin, William McNarin,
JOHN SCOTT, James Mitchell and Robert McAlmon arrived in Richibucto from
their native Scotland with their families on the ship "Dickes," captained by Simon Graham, most of the river propery had been either granted or applied for. This did not discourage or dishearten these hardy Scotsman and they quickly appraised the lay of the land and were quick to perceive that the land lying to the rear of the lots granted to Samuel McKean and associates was vacant and unoccupied and ripe with virgin timber. In less than two months after their arrival in Richibucto they petitioned, on23rd. July 1817 His Excellency George Stracey Smith, Equire, Lieutenant Governor of the Province, to grant each of them such a portion adjoining each other as would enable them to make suitable farms. As settlers, their petition was approved August 5th., 1817, and they moved in to this tract of winderness and uncultivated land to build homes and establish themselves.
On deed number 1535 dated 5th. February 1823, having fulfilled the conditions of the grant, Samuel Girvan was granted lot number 3 - 300 acres. Anthony McNarin lot number 2 - 300 acres and James McClellan lot number 1 - 300 acres.
On deed Number 1536 dated 5th. February 1823, William McNarin was granted lot number 7 - 300 acres, JOHN SCOTT lot number 4 - 300 acres, James Mitchell
lot number 5 - 200 acres and Robert McAlmon lot number 6 - 300 acres.
Thirteen Scotchmen with their wives and families were the first settlers who founded the settlement of Galloway in the County of Kent in the Province of New
Brunswick.
